You don't need to be a Scuba Diver to get to know the fascinating world underwater and its splendor. Equipped with mask, snorkel and fins you float on the water surface and watch the vibrant coral reefs, rocks and coral fishes below. An intense experience and unforgettable moments.

Nilaveli Snorkeling at the famous Pigeon Island Marine Park is the absolute highlight at your stay at the Nilaveli beach. We provide daily snorkeling trips from our NILAVELI DIVING CENTRE to the PIGEON ISLANDS within a boat ride of around 20 minutes and a duration of around 2 hours snorkeling from the shore around the island. Around the Pigeon Island there are a lot of hard corals and you can see a lot of different coral fish of the Indian Ocean, sometime turtles and mostly also Black Tip Reef Sharks in the shallow water. We provide all necessary snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, find) on request. The total snorkeling trip from our NILAVELI DIVING CENTRE takes around 3 hours in total.

Pigeon Island

In the area of ​​Pigeon Island, 1 km from the diving base, you'll see colorful corals, eels, small groups of different fish or colorful drawn boxfish. Let yourself drift while iridescent parrotfish and damselfish pass slowly. Filigree Lined sweetlips fish standing elegantly in the flow , butterfly fish and banner fish dancing before the dark blue curtain of the sea. With some luck you have encounters with turtles, various species of ray or even blacktip reef sharks there.

Nilaveli : Our boats depart from the Nilaveli Diving Centre (1) at 9.00 h and 14.00 h, or by appointment. Check In is at 8.30 h and 13.30 h at our Diving Centre.
Duration: about 3 hours
Boat : onboard with max. 7 snorkelers
Pick Up/Drop Off: for free between Trincomallee and Kuchuveli



Price

From 12 Euros per person (p.p.) to 20 Euros p.p. (12 years), depending on the number of participants. Max. 7 snorkelers per boat. 5 Euros extra if snorkelling equipment is required. Minimum age is 4 years. Children under 6 are free, and from 6 - 12 applies the half price . Entrance fees in the Pigeon Island National Marine Park are around 15 Euros p.p., depending on the number of participants.


Snorkeling on Sri Lankas South Coast Unawatuna Bay and Jungle Bay

Unawatuna Snorkeling we provide in front of the Unawatuna Rocks within an boat ride of only five minutes and a duration of round 2 hours. The other Unawatuna Snorkeling Trip is by boat tour along the Rumassala montains of around half a hour to the Jungle Bay, close to the Galle harbour. Here you can snorkel directly from the shore and from the boat. This trip takes around 3 hours in total.

Unawatuna Bay

The Unawatuna Bay is not only a world famous beach on land, but offers a great underater experience too. With its many shallow spots, it is also the perfect place for snorkeling.





Jungle Bay

Only a few kilometers down the road, between Unawatuna and Galle, you'll find the Jungle Bay. The bay is an insider tip, with a beautiful beach and very shallow entry points - a great place for snorkeling .
